Troubleshooting of car shock absorbers

2022-05-05
In order to rapidly attenuate the vibration of the frame and the body and improve the comfort of a car, shock absorbers are generally installed on the car suspension system, and the double-acting cylinder shock absorber is widely used in cars. The shock absorber is a vulnerable part during the use of the car. The quality of the shock absorber will directly affect the stability of the car and the life of other parts. Therefore, the shock absorber should always be in good working condition. When the shock absorber fails, how should it be checked?

1. Stop the car after driving 10km on the road with poor road conditions, and touch the shock absorber shell with your hand. If it is not hot enough, it means that there is no resistance inside the shock absorber, and the shock absorber does not work. At this time, appropriate lubricating oil can be added, and then the test can be carried out. If the outer casing is hot, it means that the inside of the shock absorber is short of oil, and enough oil should be added; otherwise, the shock absorber is invalid.
2. Press the bumper hard, then release it. If the car jumps 2~3 times, it means that the shock absorber works well.
3. When the car runs slowly and brakes urgently, if the car vibrates violently, it means that there is a problem with the shock absorber.
4. Remove the shock absorber and stand it upright, and clamp the lower end connecting ring on the vise, and pull and press the shock absorber rod several times. At this time, there should be a stable resistance. If the resistance is unstable or no resistance, it may be due to lack of oil inside the shock absorber or damage to the valve parts, which should be repaired or replaced.
